The ocean

The pictures above are all from home where I live right next to the ocean, and wake up everyday with an amazing view over it. I’ve been living with that all my life so I didn’t realize what a huge different it makes. I can’t have peace of mind unless I’m waking up looking over the endless horizon of water. It may sound cliché, but it’s a fact that I feel suffocated without it.

My dad actually warned me about this before I left but I just brushed it off and didn’t think more about it. When I got here and started living the daily life, I really understood what he meant.

Do you have any similiar experiences? Doesn’t have to be about water, it can be anything else.

  1. How beautiful! I can understand how you miss it. I love living near water too. I grew up in Montreal, Canada. Montreal is an island in the Saint Lawrence River and we lived on the north side, near the river. Memories of watching it rush by as I walked to school. And chunks of ice in the freezing winters. Then we moved to Los Angeles when I was 12 and lived in Manhattan Beach on the ocean. I’ve spent most of my life in beach cities and don’t like to be away from the ocean. My years at college (Berkeley) and living in cities (San Francisco, LA) made me realize this even more. Now I live in San Diego, about a half mile from the ocean (can see it from my apartment balcony) … and also near a bay that is lovely for walking and sitting. Cheers to you.
